Madrid Pride, 2020!

Join us next July for 5 days and 5 nights at Madrid Pride, one of the biggest Pride celebrations in all of Europe, and the largest in Spain. In addition to the many activities organized by Madrid Pride, we will take a hands-on tapas cooking class, a historic walking tour of the most well-known neighborhoods in Madrid, visit the Prado Museum, enjoy an Arabic bath & massage, go to an intimate flamenco show, and have a guided street art tour. Finally, we will take advantage of the amazing food and drinks that the city offers, which is all included in the trip price.

Detailed Itinerary

Thursday, July 2:

From the airport we check into our centrally located, boutique hotel, have a welcome orientation and enjoy lunch together. Madrid is a bustling, walking city and our afternoon path takes us to cultural icons like the gorgeous Puerta del Sol, Palacio Real, Plaza de Oriente gardens, and the Plaza Mayor. That evening, the group savors some of Spain’s best wine and tapas, including tortilla española, gambas al ajillo, gazpacho, queso manchego, and jamón ibérico.

Friday, July 3:

Waking up refreshed, we take in the world’s finest collection of European art at the Prado Museum and take a leisurely stroll through the Parque Retiro. The group visits Madrid’s oldest neighborhood, Madrid de las Austrias, and the Huertas district, and dines at a wonderful restaurant for lunch. After lunch we will try a glass of jerez, or vermouth on draft, at one of the oldest bars in Madrid. Later that evening, we jump into the full program of Pride, taking in the High Heels Race and an evening out in Madrid’s gay neighborhood, Chueca. Dinner on your own this evening.

Saturday, July 4:

During the day we take full advantage of the Pride celebration with Mr. Gay Pride. We will enjoy lunch together at a beautiful market in Chueca with a number of dining options. Enjoy some time for shopping and whiling away an hour or two at some of my favorite café terraces in Chueca after lunch. In the late afternoon we’ll pamper ourselves with Arabic baths and massages. The evening will have a private tapas cooking class and enjoy the meal we prepare, along with wine pairings.

Sunday, July 5:

Today we enjoy the highlight of Pride events with the Pride Parade. You will have some free time for shopping and/or recuperating from the revelry of the previous nights. After lunch on your own, we'll gather together for a guided street art tour. Later in the evening to take the funicular to Casa de Campo park and catch the breathtaking sunset with the Egyptian Templo de Debod park as our backdrop. Finally, we will enjoy dinner together as Pride events wind down.

Monday, July 6:

We end the trip with an outing to the famous Rastro outdoor market for some unique treasures and some extra time for picking up those last-minute souvenirs. We’ll have a great lunch together, dining al fresco at one of my favorite Madrid lunch spots. After a little downtime in the evening, get ready for the culmination of our time together as we take in an intimate flamenco show, followed by our farewell dinner.

Tuesday, July 7:

Transportation provided to Ezeiza international airport to catch your flights home to the U.S.
