Calling all Food, Wine & Culture Enthusiasts

This trip is designed specifically for lovers of food, wine, and culture. We will explore three different regions of Spain, including León, La Rioja, and Madrid, on this culinary adventure. We will also take time to stroll the gorgeous streets of the towns and cities we visit, while taking in some amazing cultural gems like León’s cathedral and Madrid’s Prado museum.

Detailed Itinerary

DAYS 1 & 2:

The group meets in Madrid and heads north to León, to enjoy some of Spain’s best wine and tapas, including tortilla española, gambas al ajillo, gazpacho, queso manchego, and jamón ibérico. León is a beautiful walking city, and our path takes us to cultural icons like the Antonio Gaudi museum and the stunning 13th-Century cathedral. On our second evening, we visit a local friend’s house for a home-cooked paella dinner.

DAY 3:

Waking up refreshed, we drive through the otherworldly Picos de Europa mountains to spend a half day hiking the Ruta del Cares or “Divine Gorge”. We hike one of the most breathtaking trails in all of Europe, stop to enjoy a picnic lunch, and then explore the lovely little town of Caín. After a full day on our feet, we are ready for dinner and drinks back in León.

DAYS 4 & 5:

The heart of our trip unfolds in La Rioja, Spain’s famed wine country. There we take private tours of three charming vineyards with a local wine connoisseur and enjoy intimate, al fresco meals on-site.

DAYS 6 & 7:

We’ve saved some of the best Spain has to offer for our last two days in Madrid, a city of vibrant and unique neighborhoods. We take in the world’s finest collection of European art at the Prado Museum and then enjoy some flexible time for shopping and whiling away an hour or two at some of my favorite café terraces in town. The group visits  Madrid’s oldest neighborhood, Madrid de las Austrias, and the Huertas district, and tapas-hops from one bustling restaurant to the next on our first night. Our unforgettable trip culminates with a private dinner at one of the oldest restaurants in Madrid, where we will enjoy an intimate dinner with one of Madrid’s most notable chefs, while taking in a flamenco show.
